I really want to defend Rush Limbaugh from his enemies because I was listening that day he I know that he didn't say what they are claiming he was saying... I remember seeing this kind of thing back when I was a stupid, ignorant liberal (and believe me, both words fitted my political awareness in that era, perfectly ! ) and swallowing the lies whole. I am more awake now. I don't listen to T.V. or the lies of the liberal press. I read, study and debate politics with my husband, plenty. I read all the major blogs. Am I mad they are lying about Rush, yes, I am ! Am I sad that people actually believe their lies --- yes, I am!! --- but wakefulness is a rare thing for our fellow humans. You are either are or you are not.
He didn't mean all liberal soldiers are 'phony soldiers' - He was talking about those who lie about service and lie about our service men. I have always had relatives & friends in the military - brother-in-law, sister, their son, Clifford, my best friend's husband, Reid - the list goes on and on, on now, in middle age are many of them retired. I wouldn't listen to someone who ever insults military people !!! He does not, in fact, that day he got at least 4 calls from military people and family that day thanking him for his support. They all said the same things - he honors them, he serves the country, also, by talking on the Radio, one military man said recently that 'we all do what we can.." The man he was talking to when he used the term was a soldier who was complaining about men who lie about what is going on in the Middle East , thank you so very much for your kind words.
I have heard him get choked up talking to military family members who lost their family members in war. His character and attitude is exactly the opposite of what the liberal media are saying it is ... it is all lies, taking two words out of context etc.
Rush's site Rush site - an explanation of WHO he really means.. The Liberal media is lying... they are spinning words and illusions, they are lying like they have hundreds of the times in the past. They are smearing a good man's reputation for political gain.
This should not shock me, perhaps, but I wish they would not do so.
This kind of smear campaign is an old tradition on the USA - its been going on since the very beginning, I am listening to the book
"His Excellency: a biography of George Washington" in it the author, Joseph J. Ellis, discusses the founding of the two great parties. The Democrats are descended from the Federalists - those who believe in a very strong central government, its founder are George Washington and Alex Hamilton. The founder of the Republican party is Tomas Jefferson, who, as a southerner feared a strong central government just as he had feared & opposed the British monarch earlier in his life. He believed in local politics and distrusted the centralization of power. The bitterness between the two parties was established in George Washington's second administration and it was a smear campaign against Washington that finally caused his retirement.
I will oppose any attempt to silence Rush Limbaugh - or any of talk radio, including the liberal radio stations. I will write letters. I believe our country's greatest strength is our ability to debate, question, join in the common discourse of our country and talk about our politics. Democracy will be dead the day that talk radio is silenced. You can not have a democracy without freedom of speech, political speech, particularly --- I believe that respecting each other's rights even when we don't agree, even when we fight each other, even when we despise each other is what America is all about.
