- The Roof is old and like everything in this miserable state is growing moss that makes it look like its got a beard. Its time to get it replaced. Today we get our first estimate. I suspect I'm going to faint, my friends.
- A wind storm? OK this is no longer funny. We aren't moving the furniture back into the living room, just in case. 45 miles an hour gusts when our local trees are already pretty much a mess from the incredible dampness (of the soil) of this winter and the ice damage.
- I'm back! OK, I know, no one missed me (darn!) ...but I missed you all and the Net and Lord knows my computer! We lost electricity Thursday morning during an Ice storm and just got it back this morning. I now have to clean out the refrigerator and wash the clothes! Whoopee!

- Another snowy day ... if we watched TV I am sure we would be watching "Storm Watch 2012" or "Blizzard 2012"

Its not that bad. My guess is about 4 inches have fallen since last night but it could be as much as 6". We still have electricity and we don't have to go out unless we really want to. I'm cosy as I can be and might do some knitting or ironing.
Leon's taken off so no worrying about him!
- Cold snowy day here.. I have to walk to the store for some groceries. It will probably melt by Thursday or Friday but it is quite wonderful to see the snow. (Don't tell my husband I said that, he hates driving in it!) (-:
- Well back to work. Leon somehow managed to get up at 3 AM. We had a very quiet Christmas and New Years.. just lovely. Watched movies, made wonderful meals and went out to lunch many times, enjoying our time together entirely. This is still Christmas for me. The best feast, personally is the 6th, when the mystical priests we know as Magi made their way to the Christ child and gave him the mystical gifts of gold, frankincense and Myrrh.
- I've been incredibly busy. I am feeling much better and I'm catching up on housework. The decorating is pretty much done. As some of you know, Leon and I had our 36th anniversary yesterday. I made a great meal Cheese fondue - and we watched Die Fledermaus - Strauss' comic opera.
- Dinner thanksgiving day.
Turkey breast with homemade spice/herb rub;
Yams with orange spice sweet sauce made with Stevia ;
Stuffing with mushrooms, celery and herbs;
Broccoli in Cheese sauce;
Cheese cake (made with splenda/Sugar mix);
I couldn't find fresh cranberries. I don't know why. I'll look at another store. I usually make cranberry sauce with stevia and Orange juice & spices.
- I have Leon's cold ... One a scale of 1 to 10 this is a definitely a 10. You all might want to take some extra Vitamin C and zinc this fall. This one is nasty!!
- I've been so silent here lately.. sorry. Life is distracting! I've been knitting and making jewelry - getting ready for fall, also. The rains came and we are now slipping into the long, long twilight of a northwest winter.

 My favorite production of Die Fledermaus. A 1980 production still available on DVD. Great music, costumes and a wonderful actor does the Frosch the jailer. WELL worth owning.

 Really one of the worse movies I have ever seen. Stupid, overdone, over-the-top foolishness. Not in the least bit credible, hardly worth the watching. At the end of it they didn't even see fit to show us a map of the world after the catastrophe!... more
I completely agree... and it is as I, myself, believes concerning capitalism. It needs to be read by anyone who acknowledges that mankind is not meant to live under the yoke of any government!

An odd legend about this sauce. Puttanesca means 'whore' in Italian. The story I have heard is that the Neapolitan whores would come home after a hard night's work and cook this - sound's about right, doesn't it? This is one of my favorite sauces. ... more
